The New
Long Domain Names
(Don't believe what your told)
The latest thing being promoted to Realtors is the new long domain names. Realtors are being told to register a bunch of names (at $70 per) so that they can duplicate their website under domain names with keywords in them. This is being promoted by people that are either trying to take advantage or who just don't know. Yes, there is a value in having domain names with keywords in them (orlando-real-estate.com). But you can accomplish this without spending $70 each to register them. You just register one domain name. A very short three or four character name.... www.222.com Then you set up third level domains using this second level name. www.orlando-real-estate.222.com You own all possible variations of this name because you own the second level domain.
Now, do not duplicate your website on these domains. If the search engines discover duplicate pages you will be penalized and lose positions (they consider it spamming). You must slightly alter each page changing some words. Add a few more keywords or whatever.
