Don't be
misled. Most Realtors are receiving daily offers for web
sites, search engine promotion and directory ads. As much as 90%
of these are worthless. While we could quote many of the claims
you will hear it is simpler just to state certain facts that you may use
to evaluate the offers you receive.
FACT #1
Four search engines account for over 85% of the visitor traffic. AOL,
Google, MSN and Yahoo.
FACT #2
For a web site to attract visitor traffic from the web each page must be
optimized for the search engines.
FACT #3
The typical click through rate from the pay for position engines is less
than 10%. In many cases less than 5%. You can get more traffic
with a properly optimized site and it costs less.
FACT #4
Most web site designers are not expert search engine optimizers. This is
a specialty developed separate from web site design.
FACT #5
Web sites designed with many graphics and with animated generally
features do not do well on the search engines.
